Don’t worry. You can start today. Time flies and it’ll be 2023 before you know it and you’ll have 260 blog posts out there about your profession before you know it!  So, start today.  Honestly, it’s sort of like being a professor: have you published and what have you published recently?  You’ll be happy to know that unlike emerging technologies, the pace of marketing and PR is a little slower. A lot of what I have written over the last 9 years is still relatively relevant and salient almost a decade later: evergreen!

Don’t Rely on Others to Keep Your Words Alive

While I have been writing about digital marketing and PR every week for at least 9 years on sites like and Biznology, I have been writing about digital PR and marketing since 2002 and blogging since 1999.  Much of that older stuff died when some servers died back in 2012, but those posts are still somewhere in the Wayback Machine. I’ll find and revive them.

People are Impressed by Writers and Writing

I find it almost impossible to not send someone a link to one of my previous posts about social media, influencer marketing, search engine optimization (SEO), reputation management (ORM), or content marketing every time something germane to those things comes up.  I have been writing pretty much every week about such things since 2009 and so there could be upwards of 468 different ways that I have discussed digital PR and marketing over the past 9 years.

What’s really cool is when I can send a prospect or client or colleague a link to a post I wrote about something they’ve just learned about and I had written about it with perfect 20/20 vision back in 2011! It’s actually a rush—sort of like I am a legit futurist fortune teller sage (which I obviously am).

Is Your Only Legacy a LinkedIn Profile?

For most people online, all they have to show for being online for over a decade is their LinkedIn profile and a bunch of cat videos. Biznology is My Modern Journal

Very few modern Americans keep journals their entire lives. I did for a number of years when I was young and before Netflix and Hulu. My fountain pen and my giant leather-bound journal with luxurious squared notebook paper that took a blue-black ink better than anything since. Once 1999 came around, I took to web logging—blogging—my thoughts and experiences. Today, enough of my thoughts on social media, influencer marketing, search engine optimization (SEO), reputation management (ORM), and content marketing are online that I have culminated (reach a climax or point of highest development)! And you can culminate, too—and publicly!

My Challenge Now is to Not Repeat Myself

My blogging life has become completely self-referential. Thanks to Mike Moran and JD Lasica, I have written a marketing and technology blog post every week for exactly nine years. On February 14, 2009, I wrote New book: ‘Social Network Business Plan’ for and we were off to the races.  I had written blog posts since 1999 but most of those only exist now on the Internet Archive Wayback Machine, though I am going through the arduous process of mining for each and every post I am missing from their convenient archives and putting them onto my Chris Abraham website—posting them as close to the date they were originally published as I can.

You Can Do It Post by Post

Ask Mike Moran: I didn’t set out to write so many marketing blog posts for so many years. He asked me, I respect him. He’s a bit of a mentor (and father figure) to me, and so I do as he asks (most of the time) and what he asked was for me to please write a marketing or PR blog post every Tuesday and on time. Well, I have been publishing late blog posts about digital marketing and PR every Tuesday ever since—and that was back in 2011!  If I can do it, you can, too. No, I mean it, you really can—and you really should. It’s never too late.

Feel free to own the yacht but hire a crew if you’re not yet seaworthy.
