This is not a post about Google+

You probably heard about the little announcement that Google made this week. Google finally has its social network. Again. If you don’t count Orkut or Google Wave or Google Buzz, then it is Google’s first try at dethroning Facebook. At least that is what all the stories say. Google vs. Facebook in that virtual steel-cage match–winner take all. Except none of that is the real story, which is much longer term, much broader, and much less focused on Facebook then you’d think. Mike Moran

Mike Moran is a Converseon, an AI powered consumer intelligence technology and consulting firm. He is also a senior strategist for SoloSegment, a marketing automation software solutions and services firm. Mike also served as a member of the Board of Directors of SEMPO. Mike spent 30 years at IBM, rising to Distinguished Engineer, an executive-level technical position. He also teaches at Rutgers Business School. He was a Senior Fellow at the Society for New Communications Research and is now a Senior Fellow of The Conference Board.
